“Teaching IL effectively in HE” will be looking at a range of
pedagogical issues involved in making IL training accessible and
relevant to learners in HE. Numbers are limited to 25, so send your

This 'sweetener' will investigate the different literacies that can be developed as part of a 'traditional IL' workshop. Participants will perform a variety of activities and discuss how they might be applied to their subject areas or institutions.

11.30 ”Sit still, face the front, hands on heads”: delivering sessions to large groups Chris Powis, Deputy Director (Academic Services), University of Northampton
Most of us are faced at some point with having to teach large groups of students. This session will explore how to keep their attention, make our points and, crucially, get them actively involved in learning when they are crammed in a lecture theatre.

13.30 Beyond skills: the information literate research student Gwyneth Price, Student Services Librarian, Institute of Education; Fellow of the Centre for Distance Education, University of London
This session will explore issues specifically related to working with doctoral students and their supervisors and include discussion of strategies for raising awareness with academics and administrative staff at the course development stage as well as practical ideas for working with international and part-time learners.

14.45 Can't I just upload it to the VLE? Lyn Parker, Academic Services Development Librarian, University of Sheffield
This interactive session will look at the differences in pedagogy between face to face, blended and online teaching of information literacy. Discussions on best practices and how to design courses to suit different situations will take place.
