Product

What is your product?
Try to stand back from your product and look at it as if you were the customer. Your product may need to be flexible depending on the needs of your user; very often you will have a range of products, as usually there will not be one product that fits all customer needs.

Is it a full IL course aimed at school children, undergraduates, a top up course for postgraduates or a package aimed at academics? Is it a course that will run over a period of time or is it a ‘plug and play’ package?

Look at your product carefully, ask yourself:
  • Is it meeting the needs of your customers?
  • How will it benefit them?
  • Would you use it?
Remember you are not just selling one IL product, you are selling a variety of IL products that will meet the needs of your customers. Try to understand your customer’s needs by looking at the wider context of their need to become information literate.
