IL case studies
The CILIP Community Services Group, sub group on Information Literacy commissioned four case studies in 2006, which illustrate best practice in delivery and/or promotion of information literacy in differing library sectors:• Further education libraries: Amanda Phillips, Learning Centre Manager, Coleg Glan Hafren
• Higher education libraries: Moira Bent, Newcastle University
• Public libraries: Ronan O'Beirne, Bradford Public Libraries
• School libraries: Anne-Marie Tarter, Carol Brook, Alan Chamberlain, Ripon Grammar School.
The NHS Education for Scotland have developed a series of scenarios to illustrate the stages or steps of the information literacy processes that can be applied to a particular healthcare context. The scenarios illustrate information queries from both patient and healthcare workers, for example a doctor, nurse, dentist and care assistant.
The Scottish Information Literacy Project has been working with Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS); North Lanarkshire Council, Education Resource Service; City of Edinburgh Council, Children and Families Department, Information and Learning Resource and the North Ayrshire Education Resources Service to identify exemplars of good practice / case studies within the cross curricular area of information literacy within schools in Scotland. They are available from the LTS Sharing practice website.
