Database tutorials
Libraries spend a great deal of time creating database tutorials. These may be in the form of:- descriptive guides
- worksheets
- online tutorials
Informs - is a free collaborative resource aimed at the UK higher education community. It helps you create interactive tutorials using the ‘Guide at the Side’ split-screen design, which gives students the opportunity to learn using real information resources. The really nice thing about the service is you can re-use and customise database tutorials created by someone else, so often there is no need to start from scratch.
There are several different services that capture what you are doing on screen and allow you to create short videos that can be made available via the web. The Information Literacy website are not endorsing any of these products, they are just pointing out they exist, so that you can choose the one right for you.
- MURALS - provides online tutorials on how to search specific databases.
